OUR STORY
The Author
C.K. Coleman has written in journals for over forty years. Originally from upstate New York, she spent summers in Lake George and has always loved the city. She currently lives with her husband and three children in North Carolina. This project is her first novel.
An epic story with an original soundtrack.
Set in present-day New York, Esther is a music teacher who lives alone in the palatial penthouse where she was raised. Her nephew Klugh, a prodigious guitarist, lives three floors down. After a tragic accident, Esther and Klugh flee to upstate New York to escape an estranged grandfather before he can assert guardianship. Hidden in her family's Adirondack cabin, Klugh deteriorates until Esther realizes they're hiding from something more than a fearsome old man. Beckoning from an unplugged stereo, rumbling from closed guitar cases, calling out from stacks of old records, is music. With it, Esther is able to resuscitate Klugh physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Along the way, she finds music's restorative powers rescuing her. Armed with research on a rare sensory condition, she gains insight into her nephew's otherworldly musical talents and hatches an audacious plan to put Klugh back in the spotlight. The effort reveals her own behind-the-scenes brilliance that propels both of them to heights neither could imagine.
